WNBA Player Props Today: Sabrina Ionescu, Betnijah Laney Among Best Picks (9/15/2023)

The Action Network

Our WNBA player props went 1-2 yesterday, which brings us to 33-25 on the season, and 19-8 since Aug. 8. Still good, but we’ll try to be better than Wednesday.

The playoffs continue Friday night with the New York Liberty and Washington Mystics, and the Atlanta Dream against the Dallas Wings. Let’s begin the proceedings in Brooklyn with our WNBA player props picks for Friday.

Sabrina Ionescu, generally, not always but generally, comes through on this over when I’ve played it this season.

As the regular season wound down — with the Liberty having less to play for after securing top seed in the Eastern Conference a while ago — Ionescu has still hit 18 or more points in nine of her last 12 appearances.

She’s been on a heater all season, and has shot about 48% from deep on 8.1 3s per game since July 27.

Ionescu is playoff-ready and has dominated the Mystics on multiple occasions, including a 20-point game to end the year, and a 31-point outburst on June 25 led by seven made 3-pointers.

I’d play the over and even consider +132 on FanDuel to get 20+ points.

Betnijah Laney Over 12.5 Points (-130)

I stared at the Dream props, went to the Wings, bounced my eyes back and forth for longer than I’m willing to admit, and just went back to Brooklyn.

I don’t love taking two points overs on the same team, especially if neither of them are a No. 1 option on offense, but Ionescu and Laney have both been great leading up to the postseason.

It’s “Trap or Trend” time.

Laney’s points props is listed at 12.5 points at DraftKings and she has gone over that number in seven straight games and in nine of her last 10. She’s done this on about 12 field goal attempts per game while shooting 53.4% from the field and 38.6% on 4.4 3s per contest.

To me, this is long enough and sustainable enough to be a trend. Laney is poised to have an impactful playoff run, and given her efficient shot-making and timely scoring in general, we’ll bet on said run to begin positively tonight against the Mystics, who she just scored 13 against on Sept. 10, and dropped 17 opposite them on June 25.

Both Ionescu and Laney went over in those two instances, so we’ll bet them to do it again tonight.
