The WNBA’s 26th season is attracting new fans with eye-catching player styles. 

We’ll be kicking off with four exciting matchups; the 2022 WNBA season is already full of action-packed content that’s created a buzz across social media. As the players arrived at their respective games, their outfits contained clues about how they’re achieving off-court wins, adjusting to new cities, and getting to know their teammates. The players’ brand loyalties are also emerging, which calls attention to the critical fact that significant sports brands are watching WNBA players.

The players featured in the second edition of “The W in Designer: Flyest Fits” prove that eye-catching outfits can spark new conversations outside of basketball. Game night fashion is naturally exciting. There are players who dressed up for the occasion. Still, those highlighted within this round-up include outfits built around sweats, player-exclusive sneakers, and sparkly basketball bags, which expands our perception of being “hot”.

Isabelle Harrison 

Isabelle Harrison used her tip-off weekend outfit to tease her off-court achievements. Recently joining the Jordan family, her dress reps the legendary 23 jersey number and a cheeky Jumpman logo on the back. Designed by Kim Shui, the dress balances sexiness with strength and hints at Harrison’s tenacity in her game. Paired with strappy heels, aviator sunglasses, and a subtle Balenciaga Ville Handbag, the visionary look proves that WNBA players don’t have to compromise their style to be taken seriously. 

Kia Nurse

Working with stylist Garrett Dickerson, Kia Nurse brings a seriously chic knit set to her game with the Phoenix Mercury. The Byrd Classic Knit Cardigan and Pants from ASEYE Studio is comfortable enough for pre-game activities, but professional enough for her gig as a broadcaster for the Raptors. Topped off with a Medium Telfar Shopping Bag in a Cream colorway, Nurse’s outfit is perfectly balanced, eliminating the need for any significant brands or bling. Although Nurse is currently out due to an injury, she’s always studying the game with her expert eyes.  

Aisha Sheppard 

A recent draftee to the Las Vegas Aces, Aisha Sheppard is exploring the city’s brands for her game day outfit inspiration. She rocks an eye-catching “RIP Kobe Bryant Tribute Tapestry” top from 88Nights by AyeKev, which features a distressed neck. Gray nylon shorts reinforce the retro-inspired theme of her look from Yesterday’s Fits, a local vintage store. While Sheppard’s Air Jordan 4 “Tech White” is a more modern release from 2021, the white crew socks help them blend in with the rest of her outfit. 

Natasha Howard

The three-time WNBA Champion Natasha Howard has worked to establish the tough aesthetic that she carries from season to season. Playing for the New York Liberty, the city’s identity forces Howard to be ready to take on whatever craziness might come her way. She keeps things simple, with a “G” printed varsity jacket from Fashion Nova, slim orange pants, and her Louis Vuitton Damier Graphic Pouch, always at the player’s side. Howard maintains her signature color-coordinated approach to dressing, as shown by her Balenciaga Triple S sneakers in an orange colorway.

Dearica Hamby

Dearica Hamby welcomes the WNBA season in with an outfit dominated by color gradient details, wearing an Ace-shaped necklace around her neck. She wears an Off-White Logo Band Bra in a vibrant pink lace under a cropped blazer from Sisters and Seekers. The bottom half of her suit looks like an upgraded version of Nike’s Tech Fit sweats, with its signature black zippers. Hamby holds a Tomme Studio LV Ombré basketball purse, which matches her rare Jordan 6 “Fraternity” PE. These purple sneakers include Greek alphabet-inspired lettering that pays homage to her sport. 

NaLyssa Smith 

Drafted 2nd overall by the Indiana Fever, NaLyssa Smith brings a curated mix of streetwear’s most popular brands to the game. She wears a Supreme Yohji Yamamoto Logo T-shirt in white that’s complemented by a black vest. Smith’s outfit also includes a white on black Bapesta Mesh Cap from A BATHING APE and the highly coveted Jordan 1 Retro High OG in the “Patent Bred” colorway. Paying attention to the details, her yellow apple watch strap matches her tote bag, the logo on the phone case, and the color of her new team. 

Natalie Achonwa  

Natalie Achonwa may be one of the flyst in terms of sweatsuit swag, both amongst her teammates on the Minnesota Lynx and the entire league. She rocks a Grey Basics Sweatshirt and Lounge Pants from the Adidas X Human Race by Pharrell Williams collaboration, a fashion brand that’s not overwhelmingly popular. Her comfortable fit feels luxurious with her choice of white Adidas for Prada Re-Nylon Forum sneakers. One thing about Natalie, she’s going to be draped in Adidas.
